“What can I do with just myself and my instrument?” As I confronted various works with various ideas, I was confronted with two themes: 
To what extent is it a solo performance? What does it mean to perform?

This performance will feature three works that approach the core of “solo” and “performance” from multiple perspectives.

What if you hear a sound that is completely different from the playing action? What if you think it is the sound of the player playing, but in fact, someone living inside the body of the instrument is playing instead? Please enjoy this piece while imagining the movement of the inhabitant inside the “f” hole.

What if the act of composing was directed not to “sound” but to “movement”?

Next To Beside Besides” is a collection of ‘choreographic translations’ (translations of performance actions, not arrangements) of the work ‘Beside Besides’ for solo cello into other instruments, translated for 11 instruments and one video camera.

Today, we will perform #1 (contrabass) with the pre-filmed images of #9 (contrabass) and #10 (video camera) in the background. I would like to draw your attention to the relevance of each movement.

This work was commissioned under the condition that it be a “double bass solo piece accompanied by electronics that can be controlled entirely by one person,” and was composed under the concept of “TOUCH".

What does it mean to touch instruments and things? Are the sounds we hear always connected to the actions we take with those instruments and objects?

Today is the world premiere of this new performance accompanied by the composer's video.
